I didn’t come to this work through a textbook.
I came to it through my own life.
Where it
really began
I grew up in an environment where unpredictability was normal and walking on eggshells had simply become part of everyday life. I was bullied. I battled an eating disorder. I spent years quietly wondering if something was fundamentally wrong with me.
It wasn’t. I just didn’t have the understanding I needed.
Nobody had taught me how to navigate emotions, relationships, conflict, boundaries or self-worth. School taught me many things. Life expected me to know the rest.
THE QUESTION I GET ASKED MOST
Why do you do this work?
Not the career answer. The real one.
Because in my thirties, my life fell apart in ways I hadn’t seen coming. My life looked nothing like I had imagined, and I had absolutely no idea where to start.

I realised that person didn’t exist. So I decided to become her.
It started with survival
it became a life’s work
I attended every workshop and course I could find. Not because I wanted a new career. I wanted answers. I wanted to understand myself, other people, and why life felt so unnecessarily hard.
And then, slowly, things started clicking.
Conversations became different.
My reactions became different.
My parenting became different.
My relationships became different.
I was finally understanding the person I’d always been.

That’s where my journey as a transformation coach began. And it has changed thousands of lives across the world since.
A room full of teenagers named
University of Life before I did
For years, whenever people asked how I knew what I knew, I told them the same thing. I never made it to university. Life didn’t allow for it. So I got my education somewhere else. The University of Life. Sometimes, if I’m honest, the University of Hard Knocks.
I said it so often it stopped being a line and became the truth.
In 2016, I was closing out a week-long programme with a hundred eighteen-year-olds, the exact age University of Life was eventually built for, when the GM of the company hosting it stood up and handed me a “degree.” A PhD, on official-looking paper, in a word I’d never heard before.
Radljóst.
An Icelandic word. It means having just enough light to take the next step forward, even when the rest of the road stays completely dark.
It was meant as fun. It’s still the most accurate description of what I’ve spent 25 years trying to give people.
That’s where the name came from. Not a brand meeting. A room full of teenagers, and someone who noticed something true before I’d named it myself.

For more than 25 years I’ve worked with people navigating every season of life. Different rooms, different ages, different circumstances.
I don’t believe lasting change comes from someone giving you answers. It comes from finally understanding yourself differently.
That’s when people often tell me that for the first time in their lives, things finally make sense.
